Planning and Development official accused of accepting bribe

There are many real estate developers in the Boston area who understand how frustrating and time-consuming the process can be. There are many levels of government that property developers need to go through, and projects can take many years to complete.

A recent news story has highlighted a story regarding a bribe that may have occurred between a real estate developer and a zoning board employee.

A recent story in the Boston Globe has reported that a former Boston city official was charged in federal court for accepting a $50,000 bribe from a real estate developer. The city employee influenced a member of the Zoning Board of Appeal to approve a project where the developer received a permit extension. This permit allowed the property to be sold as multi-unit development which resulted in the developer receiving an additional $500,000 in profit. The Boston Zoning Board of Appeal approves or denies thousands of Boston construction projects and is often a battleground for developers.

Real estate developers in Boston understand the complications that come in with almost every project they encounter. An attorney who specializes in real estate permits can help resolve their client's issues as quickly as possible. If litigation becomes necessary, they also have the courtroom experience to protect their client's rights. An attorney works with developers and engineers prior to zoning and planning meetings and have a proficient understanding of local zoning boards rules and regulations.

Real estate development in the Boston area can be frustrating. Having an experienced attorney is important in making sure a project is completed.
